The main hobby-style Godzilla board game pits four kaiju against each other in a modular Tokyo that gets wrecked as you play.

A Godzilla tabletop timeline

Licensed Godzilla tabletop games from the 1960s through this year.

Need a quick game? Godzilla Jenga takes 5-15 minutes.

Godzilla card game searches can get confusing: the Bandai game from 2019 and the Toho and Bushiroad game from 2025 share a name, but not rules. The comparison below explains how they play, and the Godzilla card game page covers the newer game in depth.

Godzilla card game: Bushiroad, Bandai and Total War are three different games

A search for a Godzilla card game can turn up three unrelated products.

Bushiroad Godzilla Card Game (2025)

2 players. The game has Monster, Battle, Strategy and Rage cards, a 54-card deck, and starter decks themed on Godzilla Minus One and the Heisei series.

Bandai Godzilla Card Game (2019)

2-4 players, about 30 minutes. Play revolves around the Chrono Clash marker and Battler cards, with four preconstructed decks.

Godzilla Total War (2019)

3-12 players, 15-30 minutes. This last-monster-standing brawl is based on Godzilla: Final Wars and was released in Spain.

Before the modern titles came two toy-aisle games. Ideal's 1963 version is a spinner race, while Mattel's 1978 version has a monster that springs out of the board. Both are out of production, and the 1963 Ideal Godzilla game is the older game.

Looking for a card game? Check the year: there are two.

Vintage Godzilla games from 1963 and 1978

Two toy-aisle classics mark the early days of Godzilla tabletop games.

  • Ideal, 1963

Race with a spinner to the Rocket Launch Area, then fire a missile disc at Godzilla’s vital spots. One source links the game to King Kong vs. Godzilla.

  • Mattel, 1978

A spring-loaded Godzilla sits at the board’s center, snapping at players’ rocket ships. The last ship standing wins.

Each Godzilla game draws from a different part of the films. Fans of the Legendary crossover can check out Godzilla vs. Kong, while players after the classic roster can try Tokyo Clash. For another creature-feature franchise, visit our Jurassic Park board games page.

Which version of Godzilla appears in each game?

The franchise spans decades and studios, and each game draws from a different part of it.

  • Classic Toho kaiju

Tokyo Clash and Monopoly: Godzilla feature the classic monster roster: Mothra, King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, Rodan and more.

  • Godzilla: Final Wars

Godzilla Total War is based on that film and lets you choose from 12 kaiju.

  • Heisei and Minus One

Bushiroad’s launch starter decks cover the Heisei series and Godzilla Minus One.

  • The 2021 crossover film

Gen X Games’ Godzilla vs. Kong comes with figures of Godzilla, Kong and Mechagodzilla.
