Looking for a Star Wars tabletop game? Browse the cards below, then filter by player count.

Star Wars has one of tabletop gaming's busiest licenses, with games from several publishers across almost fifty years. Some are miniatures wargames that need table space; others are 20-minute card games. For space settings across franchises, the sci fi board games hub compares the genre.

Start by filtering for players, then check each game's play time.

UNO: Star Wars

  • 2-10 players
  • Ages 7+

Mattel’s Star Wars UNO keeps the standard rules for 2 to 10 players, ages 7+. Mattel’s product page lists the Star Wars deck, though it showed the deck as out of stock when we checked. The edition year is unclear.

How it plays

Match the top discard by color or number, and call UNO when you have one card left. The deck adds an exclusive wild card called The Force.

The film or show connection

Each card features an image from the franchise, with characters from the original trilogy, prequels, and sequels. Play The Force and choose a player; if they hold a card of the color you name, they draw 2 cards.

The timeline shows collectible card games arriving in waves and miniatures lines changing with licensing. It runs from a 1977 Kenner spinner game to the 2024 launch of Unlimited. Another major license followed a similar path: Marvel board games also went from collectible miniatures to cooperative card games.

Star Wars tabletop games through the years

Nearly fifty years of Star Wars tabletop games, from a Kenner spinner game to collectible card games.

Miniatures games fill the busiest corner of this list. The next block compares four lines and one retired predecessor. Scale is the big difference: a single strike team in Star Wars Shatterpoint or a whole army in Legion. Check support notes before buying into a line.

Out of print doesn't mean unplayable. Check the card for its print status.

Star Wars miniatures: Legion, Shatterpoint, X-Wing and Armada

Four current or recent lines differ mainly in scale and support. Choose based on how many models you want to command and how long you want the line to keep growing.

Star Wars: Legion

Ground armies of troopers, vehicles, and heroes. A new edition reached stores in September 2025. Atomic Mass Games posted a stock update in October after demand ran high.

Star Wars: Shatterpoint

Small strike teams of named characters mean you need far fewer models than for Legion. In February 2026, the publisher said new releases will slow down. That’s good news if you prefer a collection that stops growing.

Star Wars: X-Wing

Starfighter dogfights use secret maneuver dials. Development ended in June 2024, though Atomic Mass Games kept organized play going through March 2025.

Star Wars: Armada

Fleet combat pits capital ships against fighter squadrons. The 2015 Core Set included three pre-painted ships. Like X-Wing, development ended in June 2024.

Star Wars Miniatures Game

Wizards of the Coast’s 2004 collectible predecessor came in randomized sets of pre-painted figures and was sold until April 2010. It’s a collector’s item today.

Star Wars card games: Unlimited, Destiny and the rest

These five card games span very different eras, and only some are still being made.

  • Star Wars: Unlimited

Current trading card game with three main sets a year since March 2024. Two players, plus the Twin Suns format for three or four.

  • Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game

This fixed-box game has no collecting. The Clone Wars Edition is a standalone box that mixes with the original and adds the Republic against the Separatists.

  • Star Wars: Destiny

Collectible cards meet custom dice. Fantasy Flight Games cancelled the game in January 2020; Covert Missions was its last set, released in March 2020.

  • Star Wars: The Card Game

This Living Card Game ran from 2012 to 2018, with fixed expansion packs instead of random boosters. It’s for two players, and the Balance of the Force expansion allows multiplayer games.

  • Customizable Card Game

Decipher’s 1995 original has been out of print since 2001. A fan-run Players Committee keeps virtual versions of its expansions alive.

Licenses shifted from Fantasy Flight Games to Atomic Mass Games, shaping what you can buy today. The block below sorts lines by support status, so you can spot a living game such as Star Wars Unlimited or one found only on the secondhand market.

Fascinating facts about Star Wars board games

Miniatures games take time to paint. Card games and co-ops get going faster.

Most questions about this license boil down to which games suit two players, which lines still have support and what changes between classic editions. The answers below stick to facts confirmed by publishers and archives. For another space setting, Dune board games offer worker placement instead of miniatures.
