Keep an eye on those dice. Here are the dinosaurs that actually come in the box.

Jurassic Park games fall into two camps: escape stories based on the 1993 film and newer Jurassic World park-building campaigns. You’ll also find party staples and a chess set below. If giant creatures are your thing, our Godzilla board games page is a natural next stop.

In Danger!, one player controls the dinosaurs. Pick your predator.

    How it plays

Buy dinosaur paddocks and park areas, then collect rent. Each turn, a T. rex token moves and can damage unprotected properties, so build fences. Pass GO and an electronic gate plays its theme song or a dinosaur roar to decide how much money you collect.

    Jurassic Park tabletop timeline

Jurassic Park tabletop games released from 1993 to 2022.

In Danger!, one player controls the dinosaurs. Pick your predator.

Most players know one Jurassic era better than the other, so here’s how the games divide. The first film drives most of the older games and both Unmatched sets; Jurassic World drives the campaign and park games. The biggest game is the Jurassic World board game, with 12 adventures.

Jurassic Park board game or Jurassic World board game: which films are they based on?

The games draw from two eras: the 1993 original and the newer Jurassic World films.

    • The original Jurassic Park

Danger!, both Unmatched sets, the 1993 Milton Bradley game and Hasbro's Monopoly use characters and dinosaurs from the first film.

    • Jurassic World

The Legacy of Isla Nublar covers the film storylines, while Jurassic World: The Boardgame carries the Jurassic World name.

    • The newer films, on cards

UNO Jurassic World tracks the newer films: Fallen Kingdom in 2018 and Dominion with its 2022 edition.

Unmatched is a game system, and the two Jurassic Park boxes are made for two players. Each is a duel between two heroes or teams. You can mix fighters and maps across sets, too, adding dinosaurs to a wider collection. Start with Unmatched Jurassic Park and its raptor pack.

Both Unmatched sets are for two players, so either is a fine starting point.

Unmatched Jurassic Park: InGen vs. Raptors or Dr. Sattler vs. T. Rex

Both sets are for two players. Unmatched also lets you mix fighters and maps from different sets.

    InGen vs. Raptors

Muldoon and InGen workers use traps against Velociraptors that fight as a pack. The board is the Raptor Paddock.

    Dr. Sattler vs. T. Rex

Ellie Sattler, the T. Rex and Dr. Malcolm face off on a T. Rex Paddock battle map.

    What the sets share

For 2 players, with two actions per turn. Attack and defense cards settle the fights.

Chess is the odd one out here: the rules haven’t changed. The draw is the dinosaur pieces, so we describe them one by one below. The Jurassic Park chess set page also covers the board border and the pieces.

Jurassic Park chess set: a look at the pieces and board

The Noble Collection's Jurassic Park chess set is the only licensed set we could confirm.

    • The pieces

32 dinosaur-shaped pieces, including the T. rex, Dilophosaurus and Velociraptor.

    • The board

The board measures 18.5 inches square, with stone and grass textures, Jurassic Park logos and a fossil-themed border.

    • Jurassic World chess

We couldn't find a separate Jurassic World chess set from the Noble Collection or another publisher.

    Jurassic Park board game facts

Legacy games change the board, so stick with the same group.
