Jumanji Board Game: cooperative electronic game
Jumanji Deluxe Board Game (Electronic Dome): How It Works
Spin Master’s Jumanji Deluxe board game is a cooperative game for 2-4 players, ages 8+, built around an electronic dome that reveals riddles and events. It’s for families after challenges, acting and a shared win or loss, rather than the 1995 timer.

Press the dome, hear the drums, solve a riddle. The jungle’s ready.
A quick look at one round of Jumanji Deluxe
On each turn, move, press the dome and take on a challenge. These details come from listings and a review, not the instruction sheet.
For the original feel, look for the 1995 game or the 2017 reissue.
- Step 1:
Each player picks a rhino mover and starts in a board corner.
- Step 2:
Roll the two regular dice and move along the jungle path. The sources don’t confirm exactly how movement is calculated.
- Step 3:
After moving, press the electronic dome. Lights, animations and Jumanji drums reveal a riddle or event.
- Step 4:
For a riddle, match the visual clues on the face-up Challenge Cards to a card, then take it to reveal the challenge.
- Step 5:
Challenges include telling a themed story, naming animals or acting out an escape from a hungry baboon. Some use the four challenge dice.
- Step 6:
According to a retailer description, solving a riddle can earn an extra space. Failing a challenge can cost a Life Token.
- 7Step 7:
The group wins by reaching the center with at least one Life Token each and calling JUMANJI. If any player loses all their tokens, everyone loses.
Deluxe plays nothing like the 1995 box. The group shares Life Tokens and tackles challenges set by the electronic dome, instead of using a decoder and sand timer. Spin Master’s instruction sheet wasn’t available for this page, so the details below stick to what listings and reviews confirm.

How to play the Jumanji Deluxe board game
Setup
Insert the included 3 AA batteries to power the electronic dome.
Each player takes a rhino mover and places it in a board corner.
Lay out the Challenge Cards so everyone can see their visual clues, then hand out Life Tokens. The listing doesn’t say how many each player gets, but retailer copy mentions three Life Tokens per player and the box holds 12.
Turn by turn
Move
Roll the two regular dice and move your rhino along the path. The sources don’t confirm how the dice combine.
Press the dome
Lights, animations and Jumanji drums accompany a riddle or perilous event from the dome. The full riddles haven’t been published.
Solve the riddle
A review says players solve visual-clue riddles on face-up Challenge Cards, then take the matching card to read the challenge. One retailer says a correct answer earns an extra space.
Take on the challenge
Reported challenges include telling stories, naming animals and acting out an escape from a baboon. Some call for the challenge dice. Fail, and you lose a Life Token.
End of the game and scoring
There’s no scoring. The group wins when a player reaches the center and calls out JUMANJI, as long as every player still has at least one Life Token. If anyone runs out, everyone loses.
Key rules
Cooperative play
The group shares one outcome. If a single player runs out of Life Tokens, the whole group loses.
Challenge dice
The box includes four challenge dice, and some challenges use them. Sources don’t describe their symbols.
Electronic dome
The dome plays the Jumanji drums and uses lights to show words and events. It runs on 3 AA batteries.
Tips for your first game
- Check the instruction sheet to see how many Life Tokens each player gets before the first turn. The listing doesn’t say.
- Leave the Challenge Cards face up so everyone can match the visual clues.
- Let a player who enjoys acting take the physical challenges first.
- Every player needs a Life Token left when someone reaches the center, so keep an eye on the smallest pile.
For the display shelf, the Noble Collection replica copies the film's board.
Spin Master’s listing says the game puts players in the center of the action, like in two newer films. That’s about mood, not plot. See the Jumanji board game 1995 page for how a 1990s film led to the toy line.
Jumanji Deluxe and the films behind it
Check the age on the box: listings for wooden editions disagree between 6+ and 8+.
The game
Design and release
Spin Master Games released the Jumanji Deluxe Game, listed with a release date of December 1, 2020. In a 2021 toy lineup announcement, Spin Master called Jumanji Deluxe an interactive update with a dome that reveals players’ fate.
Editions and reprints
A Wooden-box edition of the Spin Master game and a 30th Anniversary edition came later, both with the Deluxe components. The 2017 Cardinal game and the 1995 original use a decoder and rescue dice instead.
The film or series it covers
Spin Master’s listing mentions Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) in its marketing line. The game doesn’t adapt either film’s plot; it plays like a jungle-path board game.
The jungle, riddles and drums draw on the Jumanji series as a whole. In Welcome to the Jungle, the board game becomes a video game; this toy sticks with a board and dice. The listing doesn’t name any specific film characters.
Scenes and story beats in the game
- 1
Press the dome to hear the Jumanji drums, a nod to the series’ drum theme.
- 2
The dome’s riddles nod to the rhyming messages in the 1995 film.
- 3
Calling out JUMANJI at the center ends the game, just as it does in the 1995 Milton Bradley rules.
