Only correct answers move you forward. Knowing the show matters much more than board strategy.

There are no dice in Race to Central Perk. Correct answers set your movement, while the Curveball standee gives trouble to whoever it lands on. Here’s how to tackle the outer ring, jump to the inner ring and answer the final question. For another Friends quiz game, see Wicked Wango Quiz.

Even a wrong answer at the ring gate moves you one space inward.

Quick explainer: a round of Friends: Race to Central Perk

A game takes you around the outer ring, around the inner ring and then to a final question on the sofa. Here’s how a round works.

The Curveball standee stays on the outer ring, leaving the inner ring safe.

  1. Step 1:

Each player chooses a Friends character and puts its standee on a starting sofa.

  2. Step 2:

Put the Curveball Trivia standee on the tile with Rachel in her wedding dress.

  3. Step 3:

Draw the top Central Perk Trivia card and read a question aloud to the player on your left. Their tile symbol tells you which question to ask.

  4. Step 4:

A correct answer lets the player move the number of spaces printed at the top of the card. Get it wrong, and they stay put.

  5. Step 5:

Once everyone has answered one question, move the Curveball standee the number of spaces shown on the card. It stays on the outer ring.

  6. Step 6:

If the Curveball standee lands on a player’s tile, they must answer a Curveball question or go back to their sofa.

  7. 7Step 7:

After completing the outer ring, stop on the white circle and answer a question from a category you choose to move inward. Even a wrong answer moves you one space.

  8. 8Step 8:

Complete the inner ring, move to the center and answer one last question correctly. The first player to reach the Central Perk sofa wins. You don’t need an exact count.

These rules come from Shuffle’s game guide, and the game takes only a few steps to learn. Compare it with Friends Scene It? if your group would rather watch clips from the show than answer printed questions.

How to play Friends: Race to Central Perk, step by step

Setup

  1. Each player chooses a Friends character and places its standee on a starting sofa.

  2. Set both trivia card stacks face down where everyone can reach them: Central Perk Trivia and Curveball Trivia.

  3. Place the Curveball Trivia standee on the tile with Rachel in her wedding dress.

Turn by turn

  • Read and ask

Draw the top card from the Central Perk Trivia stack and read a question aloud to the player on your left. The symbols on the board tiles tell you which question to read.

  • Answer and move

A correct answer moves the player forward the number of spaces printed at the top of the card. A wrong answer leaves them on the same tile.

  • The Curveball standee

After every player has answered, right or wrong, move the Curveball standee forward by the number on the card. If it lands on a player’s tile, read them a Curveball Trivia card. A correct answer lets them stay; a wrong answer sends them back to their sofa.

End of the game and scoring

After a full lap around the outer ring, step onto the white circle between the rings. To enter the inner ring, answer a Central Perk question correctly in a category you choose: coffee, turkey, armchair or lobster. Miss it, and you still move one space inward. Lap the inner ring, head to the center and answer one final question correctly. The first player to reach the Central Perk sofa wins, whatever number the card shows.

Key rules

  • The Curveball standee stays outside

The Curveball standee stays in the outer ring, so it can only land on players still making that lap.

  • Two rings

The board has an outer ring, an inner ring and a white circle between them. Complete a lap of each ring before the final question.

  • Choose at the ring gate

To enter the inner ring, choose a category: coffee, turkey, armchair or lobster. Go with the one you know best.

  • No exact roll needed

You don’t need an exact roll or number to finish. Answer the final question correctly and the sofa is yours.

Tips for your first game

  • At the ring gate, choose your strongest category. A correct answer lets you move the full number shown on the card.
  • The inner ring is safe from the Curveball standee, which stays on the outer ring.
  • Check the tile’s symbol before reading the card so you ask the right question.

At the gate, pick your best category: coffee, turkey, armchair or lobster.

The board turns one of the show’s best-known sets into a race track. The Central Perk sofa is the finish, and the Curveball standee starts on the tile with Rachel in her wedding dress. For the other quiz games, see the Friends board games page.
